Front Bubble Grand Opening Celebration
Thank you to everyone who attended the Grand Opening of the new front bubble on Saturday, Sept. 7. Festivities include the dedications of the Rinkoff/Ferguson Family Lobby; Tom & Michele Mingo Court and Santosh & Ruth Krishnan Court, as well as fun tennis games on the new courts!
The grand opening celebrated the completion of Phase II, Part I of the Capital Campaign which included the construction of a ninth court, the resurfacing of the front courts, a new bubble, the addition of air conditioning and new LED lighting!
The $1.7 million FORTify Our Future Capital Campaign continues through 2020 as we move on to the final phase of the campaign which includes:
· Mandatory replacement of air-supported dome over back courts
· New LED lighting in back dome
· Energy-efficient air conditioning
· Upgraded parking facilities with new lighting, security cameras and 28 additional parking spaces
· New sound systems in both domes
By making these mandatory improvements, the Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center will be able to renew its lease with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board and continue providing tennis and life skills programming to the community and our TennisWorks after-school participants.
